BRAIN JACK
BY: BRIAN FALKNER
Reflection 1: Picture- This picture relates to the book in the fact that there is a-lot of hacking involved. The boys name is Sam and he has been a hacker ever since he could understand how to use a computer. He loves going to hacking parties in which people meet up online and challenge each other to try and hack things that get harder and harder. The one thing that allows Sam to hack things at a Faster rate is His brand new Neuro headset. Until One day he hacks into the company that makes the Neuro Headsets and decides he wants to get a few things for free instead of paying for them.
The affects of what he has done are catastrophic because he has shut down the entire Internet for the U.S.A for 3 days. He then gets an invite to a hacker party online but no one knows that he was the one who did it and when there is some unbreakable code that even the best hackers cant break Sam steps in to finish the job. Then someone says it cant be done and Sam slowly gets angry until a British man steps in and says i was just winding you up to see if you could figure it out. Sam looked a little puzzled until he said this is not the real party you tried to come to the real hacker party is online and we are eating in the oval office. Which meant Sam would have to hack the white house network to attend the real hacker party.
Reflection 2: I like the book due to the fact that I'm a huge nerd. I do play sports so I'm not a complete and total Geek but i love that it has to do with hacking because i think its something i could really find interesting to do with my free time. I also like the book due to the fact that its not just any Geek Book it has a-lot more back story to it.. You will have to read the book to understand what I'm talking about.
The other reason i like the book is the fact that there is a-lot more action than you think there would be because you think its only computers how much damage can they cause and then you read the book and you say to yourself "They can do a-lot more damage than i thought they would"
each time Sam presses a key its a matter of life or Death and i don't think i could kill people that way.
Reflection 3: Picture: This is a picture of a Neuro Headset and it is pretty much an alternative to using a mouse and keyboard because it reads your brain waves and interprets them into actions on the screen and the other cool thing about it is that it is a computer on the go so if you have to pee or eat you can still remain on your computer even though you cant haul the monitor or tower around the headset has a wireless connection to continue to transmit brainwaves to the computer no matter where you are.
It is also cool because you feel like you are submerged into what ever you are doing and it creates an alternate reality. So if you want to escape from everyday life then you juts pop your Neuro Headset on and go and do whatever makes you feel happy and also its like a giant personal movie theater that can go anywhere you go which is cool it is pretty much the modified version of a net-book or tablet.
Reflection 4: Picture: This Bio hazard symbol represents Dodge or the guy who pushed Sam's buttons to see if he could really crack the code. This symbol is on Dodges forehead as a permanent tattoo and many of you will think this is weird but it really is not. In the time that Dodge lives in it is normal to get profound tattoos wherever pleases you on your body and in fact it is quite common where he comes from and he comes from London.
This also represents the threat that computers can cause because throughout the book Sam is tasked with keeping explosives from detonating or detonating explosives and at one point someone hacks into an airplanes tech and takes control of the plane and points it directly at Sam and all the people he works with so it is a very Hazardous book.
Reflection 5: It relates to my life in the fact that i understand computers very well and i understand all the terms that Sam talks about when he is talking about code for breaking into someones wi fi or anything like that. I also like the fact that Sam is adopted just like me and i finally find someone else that is similar to me. I like that i can find comfort with someone who knows what i feel even though they aren't real.
I also like the fact that Sam has trouble with girls as well as me because he doe snot know how to talk to them just like i don't know how to talk to them without looking like a complete idiot. He thinks throughout the book whether Vienna or the girl who accompanies Dodge likes him so he always second guesses himself.
Reflection 6: This picture represents the fact that the Neuro headsets take over peoples minds and control their movements and actions which is kind of scary. These pants are from jimmy Neutron the show and whenever someone put them on they would control that persons movement just like the Neuro Headset.
These pants also represent insecurity on the people who wear them because they rely on other things to make them cool or make them more popular with other people because they have the newest thing out on the market and they hope that other people will like them for it when in reality they do it because they want to fit in and i don't think that is the right way to go about things of that manner
Reflection 7: Likes: I like that at the end of the book it sort of has a war theme going on and if you like any sort of action books then this one will be great for you because even though there is not all that much death there is a lot of bonds you create with the character and some characters that you start out hating you begin to like more and more throughout the book.
Another thing i like about the book is how weird it is i mean not every day do you see a nuclear symbol on a mans forehead and its a tattoo non the less. Isnt that cool!!! The last thing i really like about the book is that it has three different types of characters and they are the ones you love to love.... the ones you love to hate ..... and the ones you love to love and to hate if that makes any sense hahah.
Reflection 8: I like the fact that if you can hack the right companies you can control peoples minds and think about it wouldn't that be pretty cool i mean they could get you food do your homework do you chores and more importantly they will take the rap for anything you do wrong which makes you look like the perfect little angel that you are not (insert loud booming laughter here).
Another thing your minions could be used for and i promise i would never do this but they could be used to rob banks or kill people or any sort of thing like that and the last thin that these people could be used for are military gain because they won hesitate in the heat of the battle and they wont second guess the orders are given because they are not controlling their own brain.
Reflection 9: Picture:This picture represents the two hacking conventions that Sam go to until one of them turns into a competition to hack into the white house security until Sam finds out that the FBI is at his door to arrest him and his mother tries to get in the way and let me tell it is a decision she will forever regret along with the sam who will also regret the decision his mother made.
it also represents how his friend died because he was trying to hack something that took him about a week or so to hack and he did not eat or drink during this span and he died of starvation and dehydration and let me tell you that is the one thing that scares me about hacking is sometimes it makes your mind forget that you have to eat and it essentially kills you.
Reflection 10: Overall if you like technology then you will like this book and also if you like action then you will like this book if you like them both together then you will like this book. The main reason i like the book personally is that i can relate to the character sam in some more personal ways than i am willing to share with you.
Brain jack has a target audience of about 12-17 and it could extend either way but if you are in that age category that is when you will find the most joy in reading this book. so there you have it every little fact i found interesting about brain jack and if you would like me to continue making more blogs about books just submit your request to which books below my next blog will be the book called THR3E written by: Ted Dekker
